Blue Victorian Beaded Earrings Pattern

Free right angle weave earrings beading pattern

Free Right Angle Weave Earring Bead Tutorial

I think it's time to post a free bead pattern on MyAmari. This has been out for a little while on Bead-Patterns.com; I just haven't gotten around to posting a full version of it here. These were made as a matching set to the Blue Victorian Pendant Necklace.

Before we get started though, here's a list of a couple more free earring patterns for you to try!

Around the Beading Table's Dragonfly Earrings
Linda's Crafty Inspiration's Arabella Earrings
MoonPerl's Late Sunset Earrings

What you will need for the earrings:
I have put in parenthesis how I will refer to the beads in the tutorial:
-4 of 4MM bi cone crystal or glass beads, Teal w/AB Finish (4 MM crystal).
-42 of 3MM pearl glass beads or similar, White (3MM Pearls)
-1 gram size 11/0 Miyuki Round, Matte Silver-Lined Capri Blue #25F (Blue 11/0)
-1 gram size 15/0 seed beads, Transparent Blue (Blue 15/0) I used Bead Treasures Trans Lt Blue Inside Color from Hobby Lobby.
-0.5 gram size 15/0 Miyuki Round, Silver-Lined Crystal #1 (Silver 15/0).
-2 of 4MM glass pearl or similar.
-Size 12 beading needle, scissors & Fire Line (4 or 6 pound test).
-Earring findings. I used hooks.

*Notes on this project: Knowledge of Right Angle Weave (RAW) will be helpful but not necessary.  You WILL need to know how to tie half-hitch knots.

1. Pull approximately 1 and ½ yards of thread and thread your needle. Add a stop bead to the end of your thread and leave a 4-5 inch tail. Pick up your 4 MM pearl and 4 blue 11/0s.

2. Bring your needle back through the opposite end of the 4MM pearl and form a loop on one side of the pearl with the seed beads. Pull your thread.

3. Pick up 4 blue 11/0s and bring your needle back through the 4MM pearl to add another loop on the other side of the 4MM pearl.

4. Bring your needle down through the seed bead loop on the right side of the 4MM pearl.

5. Fill in the bottom gap between the two loops by picking up one blue 11/0 and bringing your needle through the left seed bead loop on the other side of the 4MM.  Bring your needle through all of the seed beads in the left loop.

6. Finish this seed bead circle around the pearl by picking up another blue 11/0 and bring your needle through the seed beads on the right side. You should have a total of 10 blue 11/0 seed beads around the pearl.

7. Weave through the circle until you reach one or two blue 11/0s past the top bead you added to fill in the gap.  You can remove your stop bead.

8. Working in a Right Angle Weave stitch clock wise, pick up 3 blue 15/0s and bring your needle back through the same blue 11/0 your thread is  positioned out from, coming in on the opposite side of the bead.

9. Pull your thread. You should have 2 blue 15/0s beads on each side, one on top and a blue 11/0 on bottom for that stitch. Pick up 2 blue 15/0s and bring your needle through the next blue 11/0 in the circle and up through the right blue 15/0 from the previous stitch, forming now the next stitch. You will be sharing the furthest right blue 15/0 from the previous stitch for the remainder of the round.

10. Bring your needle through both the top and far right blue 15/0s and through the next blue 11/0 in the circle.

11. Pick up 2 more blue 15/0s. Bring your needle down through the far right blue 15/0 and the next blue 11/0 in the circle.

12. Bring your needle up through the far right blue 15/0 that you just added.

13. Pick up 2 more blue 15/0s and bring your needle though the next blue 11/0 in the circle and right blue 15/0. Continue to repeat steps 9-12 to add blue 15/0s around the seed bead circle until you complete the second to last stitch on this round.

14. To complete the circle, pick only 1 blue 15/0 and bring your needle though the blue 15/0 to the right. Pass through the bottom 11/0 in the circle and back up through the left blue 15/0. Weave through all of these beads again to reinforce this loop.

 15. Step up to add your next round by bringing your needle back up through the top 15/0 of the stitch you just added. These top 15/0s in this round are now the base for the second round in the next step.

Adding the second round (3MM Pearls)

16. Repeat steps 8-12 but use the top 15/0s you just added in the previous round and add your round of 3MM pearls around the circle.

17. Repeat steps 14 and 15 by adding one 3MM pearl to connect the circle and complete your second round. Reinforce this loop. Step up to the top 3MM pearl you just added to start your third round.

Adding the third round (Blue 11/0s

18. Working in a peyote stitch, pick up 2 blue 11/0s and pass through the very next 3MM pearl. You will do this between each top 3MM in this round to fill in the gaps between the pearls.

19. Continue to add two blue 11/0s between each 3MM pearl.  After you add your final two blue 11/0s, you should be through a 3 MM pearl and in position to start your next round.

Adding the fourth round (Blue 15/0s)

20. This is very similar to steps 8-12 except you are adding this fourth round to both the 3MM pearls and each of the blue 11/0s in between the 3MMs from the previous round.  Pick up 3 blue 15/0s and bring your needle through the 3MM pearl, coming in on the opposite side of where your thread is coming out from.  You should have a 3MM pearl for the base and 3 blue 15/0s on the top and sides for this stitch you just made.

21. Bring your needle up through the far right blue 15/0 on the stitch you just made.

22. Pick up 2 blue 15/0s and add your next stitch to the blue 11/0 next to the 3MM pearl and up through the right blue 15/0 from the previous stitch.

23. Pick up 2 blue 15/0s and bring your needle through the far right blue 15/0 the previous stitch and the next blue 11/0. Continue adding 2 blue 15/0s to all 3MM pearls and blue 11/0s in the previous round until you reach the second to last stitch in this round.

24. To complete this round, pick up only 1 blue 15/0 and bring your needle down through the blue 15/0 on the right. Reinforce this loop. Weave back up to the top 15/0 that you just added.

25. With your string positioned out of the top blue 15/0 you just added, pick up beads in this order: silver 15/0, 4MM crystal, silver 15/0, 3MM pearl, silver 15/0, 4MM crystal and silver 15/0. Bring your needle through 2 blue 15/0s: the blue 15/0 to the left AND the blue 15/0 your thread is positioned out from. These blue 15/0 beads should be on top of 2 blue 11/0s from the previous round.

26. Come back through the set of beads you just added to reinforce. Once you have gone back through this loop, bring your needle through the very top 3MM pearl.

27. Pick up 4 silver 15/0s, one earring hook and 4 silver 15/0s. Bring your needle through the 3MM pearl on the opposite side of where your thread is coming out from.

28. Bring your needle back through the silver 15/0s and earring hook to reinforce.

29. Once the clasp has been reinforced, weave your needle down through the piece and tie 3-4 half hitch knots to secure. Cut your thread. Tie in your tail thread. Repeat steps 1-30 for the second earring.
